Veterans Day Celebration: Des Moines Memorial Drive, A Living Legacy

Join a Veterans Day celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Sunnydale Elementary School (15623 Des Moines Memorial Drive South, Burien) honoring all veterans and celebrating Des Moines Memorial Drive as a Living Road of Remembrance. The ceremony features a bell ringing, color guard from Burien American Legion Post #134, presentations on Indigenous veterans, a WWI-era ambulance display, music, and refreshments afterward. This historic road, planted with 1,400 elms starting in 1921 as a memorial to WWI fallen, is the only remaining such memorial drive in the United States.
