Island Unit of Skagit Wildlife Area will temporarily reopen to public Oct. 17
The Skagit Wildlife Area’s Island Unit near Conway is reopening to the public from October 17 through March 2027, coinciding with duck hunting season. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife warns visitors to exercise extreme caution due to ongoing estuary habitat restoration work that has created new hazards like soft mud, steep banks, and loose wood. Access is by boat only, and visitors should scout during daylight and understand tide conditions before visiting.
