Coalition breaks ground on Mount Baker Redevelopment and Rainier Rising Early Learning Campus, an innovative multi-use space including affordable housing, early childhood-learning hub

A coalition led by the University of Washington, City of Seattle, Mercy Housing Northwest, and El Centro de la Raza broke ground on the Mount Baker Redevelopment and Rainier Rising Early Learning Campus in southeast Seattle. The 3.8-acre, $170 million project will create over 400 affordable apartments, a first-of-its-kind early learning hub serving 120+ children, public spaces, and commercial areas for BIPOC-owned businesses. Completion is expected by 2029.
