Candidates vie for open Seattle City Council seat

Seattle’s city council is holding a special election for an open seat representing the city’s northernmost neighborhoods. Candidates Nilu Jenks and Julie Kang advanced from the August primary, with Jenks receiving more than half the votes. The winner will serve the final year of Cathy Moore’s term before facing re-election in 2027, with affordability and public safety as top issues.
