Ferguson nominates Marysville, Everett, and Lynnwood for Opportunity Zones
Governor Bob Ferguson nominated 99 low-income and rural areas statewide for the federal Opportunity Zones 2.0 program on October 8, with designations taking effect January 1, 2027 if certified by the U.S. Treasury. Six Snohomish County areas were nominated, including Marysville downtown, Everett downtown, and South Everett neighborhoods, plus Lynnwood City Center and South Lynnwood. The program offers tax incentives to investors in designated communities; the first round (2018) drew roughly $100 billion nationwide.
