Everett, Community Transit leaders announce details of historic transit consolidation plan

Everett and Community Transit announced a proposed consolidation plan that would merge Everett Transit into Community Transit’s service district, effective April 1, 2027 if approved. The deal includes a 50% increase in Everett bus service by 2031, preserves paratransit and employee jobs, and requires Everett’s transit sales tax to rise from 0.6% to 1.2%. Community Transit would pay Everett $54.5 million in assets and transition costs. Public hearings are scheduled for late October, with final votes anticipated in November.
