PSE new rate hike proposal draws ire at public hearing

Puget Sound Energy, which serves Burien residents, is asking state regulators to approve a 29.3% electricity rate increase and 19.8% gas rate increase over three years. A public hearing at the state Utilities and Transportation Commission in Lacey drew about 100 commenters expressing affordability concerns. Regulators will decide on the proposal by early January, with another public comment opportunity set for October 7.
