Mosqueda Leads King County Council Opposition to Two Citizen Initiatives

King County Council voted 7–2 on September 22 to oppose two statewide ballot initiatives: Initiative 638 (restricting transgender girls’ participation in school sports) and Initiative 001 (expanding parental access to student records). Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, whose District 8 includes Burien, led the effort. Reagan Dunn and Pete von Reichbauer voted no; public comment was sharply divided on both measures.
