Community Uplifts Youth and Prevents Tragedy with I.A.M.U.
Independent Achievements for Minority Youth (I.A.M.U.), founded by Jada Jefferson in honor of her nephew who was murdered in 2015, serves youth ages 8–24 across Pierce, Thurston, and King counties with programs addressing trauma, re-entry support, and prevention. The nonprofit will host a talent showcase on December 19 at Highline College and funds its work through a mobile drink cart called A Drip of Reign, which also provides job training for young people in the program.
