Faulty Pantograph Blamed for Sound Transit's Apple Cup Train Stall

Sound Transit’s light rail Line 2 experienced a two-hour stall on Sunday evening after the Apple Cup football game, when a northbound train became stranded between U District and Roosevelt stations due to a misaligned pantograph that caused a voltage spike. The packed train lost lighting and air conditioning intermittently, forcing Sound Transit to deploy rescue trains and redirect riders to bus service.
