Highline Schools Ordered to Court Over Public Records Delays
Highline Public Schools, which serves Burien, has been ordered to court over public records delays. King County Superior Court Judge Kristin Ballinger issued an order on September 10 requiring the district to respond to allegations of violating Washington’s Public Records Act in a hearing on September 25. Burien resident Kristen Price filed the case, citing requests that received completion estimates of six to ten months. The district has only one full-time employee handling public records requests across 327 open requests since January 2024.
