Tukwila Says Airport Review Understates Impacts on Neighboring Communities
Tukwila submitted a letter to the Port of Seattle on August 7 challenging the Airport Master Plan’s environmental review, arguing it understates impacts on neighboring communities. The city contends the study area is too small, environmental justice concerns aren’t adequately addressed, and financial costs to neighboring cities—including reduced property tax revenue and increased service demands—are excluded. Burien, Des Moines, and SeaTac filed a similar 187-page letter raising comparable concerns.
