The Longest Hotel Worker Strike in WA Is Still Going On in Pioneer Square

Hotel workers at Embassy Suites in Seattle’s Pioneer Square have been on strike since June 18—the longest hotel strike in Washington history—demanding roughly $3 hourly raises over two years, year-round health insurance, and ICE notification procedures. One striker, Fritzie Corral, lives in Burien and works in food and beverage; she joined the effort after her hours were reduced and pay was cut without clear notice. King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson are expected to join the Labor Day picket on Sept. 7.
