Lynden mom’s tortilla recipe went from family dinners to statewide school lunches

Lynden entrepreneur Lupita Nava turned her family’s traditional tortilla recipe into Tortillas Con Madre, a certified organic tortilla company established in 2017 and based in Bellingham. The business now supplies whole-grain, pumpkin-oil tortillas to schools statewide through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and stores across Washington, after starting in Lupita’s garage in 2020 and moving to a commercial kitchen on Hannegan Road in 2022.
