King County buys Cedar River property for $14M, ending decade-long asphalt plant fight

King County purchased the Cedar River property for $14 million, ending a nearly decade-long fight to block an asphalt plant proposed by Lakeside Industries. The deal was announced Saturday by County Councilmember Reagan Dunn at the Fairwood 60th Anniversary Celebration. The county plans to develop the land into parks and open spaces with community input, protecting the Cedar River watershed that supplies drinking water to over 1.6 million people.
