Three Cities Say Port Downplays Noise, Air Pollution and Traffic from Airport Expansion

Burien, SeaTac, and Des Moines jointly submitted a 187-page response challenging Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s environmental review of its Sustainable Airport Master Plan. The three cities argue the Port of Seattle’s 6,000-page Draft Environmental Impact Statement minimizes noise, air pollution, traffic, and water quality impacts on surrounding communities, relies on outdated science, and omits critical data. The Port must now respond to these concerns in its Final Environmental Impact Statement, with no publication date yet announced.
