UW Tacoma Aspires to Double Enrollment, Become City’s Largest Park

UW Tacoma has unveiled a master plan to double enrollment from 5,000 to 10,000 students over the next 30 years, designed by international architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group. The plan includes a new residence hall (opening 2029) and dining hall, expanded green space, and a redesigned campus that prioritizes community access and connection to nature. The university consulted about 80 community groups, including the Puyallup Tribe and Hilltop neighborhood residents, to address historical injustices and prevent gentrification.
