A Place to Begin
Seattle architect Pamela Belyea created the Grievers Library, a network of 10 free public book collections across the Puget Sound region dedicated to grief literature. After her son’s death in 2020, Belyea built boxes and indoor shelves that distributed over 2,100 grief books in 2025, with color-coded systems to help readers find resources relevant to their specific loss. The volunteer-run project now includes a Wind Phone Lending Library and plans to expand into music playlists.
