WDFW: Oregon man illegally caught, wrestled sharks in Pierce County

An Oregon man named Connor Seifert faces 10 counts after allegedly illegally catching and wrestling protected sixgill and sevengill sharks in South Puget Sound near Pierce County. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife says the trauma from these incidents likely caused pregnant sharks to lose their pregnancies. Seifert was charged with nine misdemeanor counts of unlawful recreational fishing and one count of false statement to a public servant after months of investigation.
