Seattle Funding Measure Adding 100,000 Bus Trips Heads to Voters

Seattle City Council unanimously approved a renewed transit funding measure on Tuesday that will go before voters in November. The measure would increase the sales tax from 0.15% to 0.3%, generating $138 million annually to fund approximately 100,000 additional bus trips per year and double subsidized ORCA passes for low-income residents. Burien residents who use King County Metro service could see improved frequencies on select routes, though specific corridors serving Burien will be determined through the city’s existing equity criteria.
