SDOT Prepares to Roll Out the Route 8 Red Carpet on Denny Way

Starting August 1, Seattle’s Department of Transportation will begin work on Denny Way to improve Route 8 bus reliability, including adding a new eastbound business access and transit (BAT) lane from Fifth Avenue N to Fairview Avenue N and permanently closing the slip lane from Denny Way to Yale Avenue for I-5 access. The project, a priority for Mayor Katie Wilson, will wrap up by August 31 and coincide with King County Metro increasing Route 8 frequency from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes on weekday mornings and afternoons.
