Petition demands investigation after third seal is shot in the head in WA

A petition is calling on NOAA and U.S. Fish and Wildlife to investigate after a third harbor seal was shot in the head in Washington over the past 11 months. The most recent incident involved a three-week-old seal pup found near Bellingham tide flats and taken in by Sealife Response, Rehabilitation and Research. Advocates say the shootings stem from a misconception that seals deplete salmon populations, though harbor seals primarily eat sole, flounder, and other fish species.
