Property Owner Opposition Prompts Seattle Public Restroom Reshuffle
Seattle’s Department of Transportation is relocating two public restrooms from Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood after a property owner’s legal challenge. The solar-powered Throne restrooms, installed in May near First and Charles Street, generated over 9,000 uses in their first four weeks, but SDOT settled an appeal by Cederstrand Rentals LLC and agreed to find new locations by early August. King County Metro has also partnered with Throne to install restrooms at the Aurora Village and Burien transit centers.
