Wilson's Transit Measure Advances Out of Council Committee Intact

Seattle’s city council advanced Mayor Katie Wilson’s transit funding measure Thursday, keeping it at a 0.3% sales tax for 10 years to increase King County Metro bus service by around 100,000 trips annually. Proposals to scale back the measure were defeated, including one that would have cut it to 0.225%. The measure heads to a full council vote next Tuesday before appearing on November’s ballot, and would expand late-night service, restore 2019 bus service levels by late 2028, and extend free ORCA cards to trade school students.
