Seattle City Council approves Strauss utility discount expansion for low-income households
Seattle City Council unanimously approved an expansion of the Utility Discount Program on Tuesday, making an estimated 31,000 additional low-income households eligible for reduced utility bills starting January 1, 2027. The program will offer 60% discounts on Seattle City Light bills and 50% discounts on Seattle Public Utilities bills for households earning less than 60% of area median income, potentially saving qualifying families over $1,000 annually.
