Bellevue Blocks New Detention Centers for One Year

Bellevue City Council unanimously approved a one-year moratorium on detention centers on June 9, effective immediately as emergency legislation. The freeze blocks new detention center applications while the city develops permanent zoning rules. A public hearing is scheduled for July 28 to allow resident input, as required by state law.
