Storied WA state park in central Puget Sound at a crossroads

Washington State Parks is deciding the future of Blake Island Marine State Park, a historic 472-acre island in central Puget Sound near Seattle. After tour operator Argosy Cruises ended service during the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation plummeted. State planners are considering four options ranging from restoring it to nature to building lodges and cabins. The agency expects to announce a preferred plan by late August or September, following input from around 5,000 public comments.
