Georgetown Steam Plant Reopens Possibilities for Duwamish Valley Community

The Georgetown Steam Plant, a historic 1906 coal-powered facility in South Seattle, is being reimagined as a community hub through efforts led by the Georgetown Steam Plant Community Development Authority. The plant, located in the Duwamish Valley near a Superfund site, now hosts arts events, science fairs, and community gatherings while organizers work to establish a permanent access road and expand programming that addresses environmental remediation and climate resilience.
