146 Years of Fighting Fires in Black Diamond

Black Diamond is marking 146 years of fire services and faces a critical decision on August 4, 2026, about annexing into the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority. If approved, the regional authority would take over fire and emergency services on January 1, 2028, funded through property tax and benefit charges. The city currently contracts with Mountain View Fire and Rescue, but that agreement expires at the end of 2027.
