What Happens Next? Burien Begins Process to Fill Vacant City Council Seat

Burien is filling a vacant City Council seat after former Councilmember Linda Akey resigned on May 18. Applications are due by June 26, 2026 at 4 p.m. The City Council will review applications, conduct public interviews on July 27, then appoint a qualified resident to serve until the next election. Eligible applicants must be registered Burien voters.
