Skagit County attempts to plan for clean energy future
Skagit County received a $770,000 state grant to develop clean energy siting regulations and environmental impact analysis, expected to wrap up by May 2027. The county is preparing for inevitable battery storage projects driven by Washington’s 2045 fossil fuel transition deadline. Three public open houses are scheduled for June 9–10 in Anacortes, Mount Vernon, and Concrete to gather community input.
